There is hope to conquer more gold medals in disciplines such as wrestling, swimming and marching.
The triathlon concluded this Sunday in the first edition of the Junior Pan American Games with the mixed relay event that put the Ecuadorian team at the top in Lake Calima.
The test was defined in an impressive final sprint at the finish line between Ecuador and Mexico. In third place was the United States.
The Ecuadorian team, led by Cecilia Fárez, reached the gold medal in 1 hour, 24 minutes and 8 seconds and was made up of Nancy Lojano, Paula Vega, Gabriel Terán and Xavier Criollo.
In this same natural setting, but two days before, Vega and Criollo obtained bronze in the individual triathlon event.
In this way, Ecuador reached its third gold medal this day after those achieved by the weightlifter Iván Escudero (in the 81 kg division) and the judoka Bryan Garboa (in the -60 kg division).
In other disciplines, Ecuador bets on Lucia Tiger Yépez, 20, a fighter who reached eighth place at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and a brand new world champion in Belgrade, Serbia.
Other hopes of the South American country to win gold medals are Anicka Delgado (19 years old) and David Farinango (21 years old) in swimming.
In addition, Glenda Morejón and David Hurtado will come out with experiences of the Olympic Games, in the 20-kilometer march; and Anahí Suárez, who debuted in Tokyo 2020 with the female post team.
The Junior Pan American Games will be held until December 5 in the Colombian city of Cali. (D)
