The Seimas of Lithuania initiated the deprivation of the champion figure skater Drobyazko of citizenship because of the Navka show
The Seimas of Lithuania initiated the launch of the procedure for depriving the nationality of the country figure skater Margarita Drobyazko because of her participation in the show of the Olympic champion in ice dancing Tatyana Navka. Speaker of the Saeima Viktorija Cmilyte-Nielsen informed LRT about this.
“This has been talked about for a long time. It seems that we have reached the final phase. Most likely, the decision will be made,” the politician noted.
In August last year, Margarita Drobiazko and her partner Povilas Vanagas, with whom they won the Lithuanian championship 13 times and became bronze medalists of the World Championship in ice dancing, were deprived of state awards. Athletes were sanctioned for participating in Navka’s Swan Lake show in Sochi.
Drobiazko and Vanagas have represented Lithuania at the Olympics five times. They took the citizenship of the country after the collapse of the USSR.
