World tennis legend Martina Navratilova announces cure for cancer
Former world No. 1 Martina Navratilova Twitter She announced that she was cured of cancer.
“After a whole day of examinations, they told me that I had nothing! Thanks to all the doctors, nurses, proton and beam wizards. What a relief,” wrote the 66-year-old tennis legend.
On January 2, Navratilova was diagnosed with stage 1 throat cancer, as well as a recurrence of breast cancer. The tennis player was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010. Six months later, the doctors stated that she was in remission.
Navratilova was born in Czechoslovakia, but in 1981 she became an American citizen. During her career, she won 167 tournaments in singles and 177 in doubles. Both of these results are the absolute record of all time for men and women. The athlete 18 times became the winner of the Grand Slam tournaments.
