The head of the RPC said that there is a tendency to improve in the issue of admitting Russians to tournaments
The head of the Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC), Pavel Rozhkov, spoke about the progress in the issue of admitting Russians to tournaments. His words are quoted by Match TV.
“There is a trend towards improvement. As you know, the management structure of the Paralympic Movement is quite complex. Therefore, at the stage of selection for the Games, much depends not so much on the decision of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), but on the decision of the international federations,” he said. Rozhkov expressed hope that the IPC would be guided by the decisions of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
On May 12, the IPC Appeals Tribunal overturned the RPC’s suspension. In Russia, they announced that they would work out options for further legal protection of the rights of athletes in the issue of admission to international competitions.
Earlier, the IPC refused to allow Russian athletes to compete at the 2022 Games. Initially, domestic athletes were allowed to perform in a neutral status, but then the decision was changed.
