Croatia coach hopes Modric will delay international retirement

This Monday, the coach of Croatia, Zlatko Dalic, asked the star Luke Modric to postpone his departure from the national team and highlighted the importance of the veteran midfielder to the team.

“We need him. This is a generation that has not yet completed its work,” Dalic told reporters on arrival at Zagreb airport after losing the League of Nations final to Spain on penalties – the shootout ended 5-4 for the Spaniards, after a 0-0 draw after 120 minutes.

“We’ll let him rest. He’ll tell us what he thinks,” said the coach.

Four years later, she reached the semifinals of the 2022 World Cup, when she was knocked out by Argentina. In the fight for third place, Croatia beat Morocco.

To this is added, now, the vice-championship of the League of Nationsin which Croatia were defeated in a thrilling penalty shootout by Spain, whose hero was Basque goalkeeper Unai Simón, who saved two spot kicks.
