Russian Daniil Medvedev was the first to win 40 season victories at the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) tournaments. This is reported by the correspondent of “Lenta.ru”.
Medvedev defeated American Marcos Giron in the first round match of the ATP-500 grass tournament in Halle (Germany). The Russian won with a score of 6:4, 6:3. In total for the season he spent 47 meetings.
Earlier, for the first time in history, three Russian hockey players entered the top ten of the ATP rankings. Medvedev moved from second to third place after being eliminated from the first round of Roland Garros, Karen Khachanov rose from 11th to 10th place after reaching the quarterfinals of the tournament, Andrey Rublev remained in 7th place. Thus, the Russians have established a historic achievement.
Serb Novak Djokovic is once again top of the rankings. He won the Roland Garros, defeating the Norwegian Kasper Ruud in the final match.
