Canadian Olympic champion wanted to hold the award at the expense of Russia

Megan Duhamel said that it is necessary to hold the awards ceremony of the 2022 Games at the expense of Russia

Olympic champion in figure skating, Canadian Megan Duhamel Twitter stated that it is necessary to hold an awards ceremony for the winners and prize-winners of the team tournament of the 2022 Games in Beijing at the expense of Russia.

The athlete commented on the news that the losses of the International Skating Union (ISU) due to the non-admission of Russian athletes to participate in tournaments amounted to a million dollars. “Use this money to hold a luxurious ceremony for athletes from the USA, Canada and Japan who missed the Olympic moment due to Russian deception,” she wrote.

On June 10, the ISU said that the sanctions against Russia and the absence of the national team at the competitions led to the fact that the Union received almost no income from media rights and advertising from Russia. According to their calculations, they will not receive about one million Swiss francs (about 91.6 million rubles) in 2023.

On April 12, the Russian Foreign Ministry banned Duhamel from entering the country. Prior to that, she repeatedly criticized the country and called for a boycott of the Olympics in Paris if the Russians were admitted.
