Olympic champion Alexander Tikhonov proposes to turn NATO countries into refugees
Four-time Olympic champion in biathlon Alexander Tikhonov responded to the proposal of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), according to which the Russians can perform at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris in the status of refugees. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
Tikhonov called the authors of the proposal a rabble of freaks who think only about the interests of the United States. “If I had such an opportunity, I would turn all of Europe, all NATO countries into refugees. A bunch of idiots, moral and political,” he said.
On June 16, the All Sport agency announced the decision of the IOC to allow Russian athletes to participate in the Games in Paris as a refugee team. It was noted that in order to do this, athletes would have to fulfill several conditions, including stopping participation in all national competitions and stopping accepting any support from Russian sports organizations.
The Paris Olympic Games are scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024. The decision on the admission of Russians to the competition has not yet been made.
