O chelsea has offered a new contract to French midfielder N’Golo Kanté, whose name has been closely linked to Saudi football in recent days, according to official contract lists published by Premier League this Friday.
The 2018 World Cup champion’s contract expires on 30 June and his name appears on the list of players named by Londoners for the new season, with the mention “offer” in parentheses after his name. No details on the subject were disclosed and the British made no communication about it.
Kanté, 32, had an injury-plagued last season and played just nine games for the London side. In recent days, his signing by Saudi Al Ittihad had been considered practically closed, with the player having signed a three-year pre-contract and where he would join compatriot Karim Benzema.
The list of players retained for the 2023/24 season has been published, with Tiemoue Bakayoko’s departure from the club now confirmed.

However, this transfer to Al Ittihad is conditional on the results of medical tests, which the club said it was evaluating.
On the other hand, another French midfielder from Chelsea, Tiémoué Bakayoko, was not signed by the club and his contract expires on the 30th of June. Revealed by Rennes and at Stamford Bridge since 2017 when he came from Monaco, the Frenchman stood out under the command of Antonio Conte and won the FA Cup.
He was then loaned to Monaco and Milan, becoming Italian champion with the club in 2022. However, last season he only played three Serie A games for Milan, accumulating just 39 minutes of play.
