The head of the All-Russian Swimming Federation (VFTU), Vladimir Salnikov, condemned swimmer Anastasia Kirpichnikova, who changed her citizenship. His words are reported by RIA Novosti.
“The stormy enthusiasm of Kirpichnikova can only be explained by the completion of the epic with the paperwork. It was necessary to say “merci” to someone, ”he commented on the situation. Salnikov said that the athlete should not have done it so loudly.
The change of Kirpichnikova’s sports citizenship became known on April 21. “I am proud to represent France,” she said and noted that it became easier to train because she was motivated again.
Kirpichnikova has been training in France for five years. The swimmer has a chance to take part in the 2023 World Cup and the 2024 Olympic Games as part of the European team.
22-year-old Kirpichnikova is a three-time European short course swimming champion as part of the Russian national team. She also has World Championship silver to her credit.
