Miami Police Launch Investigation Against McGregor Over Rape Allegations
Miami police have launched an investigation into Irish mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Conor McGregor over alleged rape charges against him. This was announced by police officer Michael Vega, whose words are quoted by journalist Aaron Bronsteter in Twitter.
“At this point, we can only confirm that a special Miami police unit is investigating the report that was released on June 11, 2023,” Vega said. He noted that no further information could be made public at this time.
McGregor’s lawyer, Barbara Llanes, called the allegations false. “McGregor is not intimidated by this,” she stressed.
On June 15, TMZ reported that McGregor was charged with raping a woman during Game 4 of the Miami Heat and Denver Nuggets in the National Basketball Association (NBA) Finals. The victim’s lawyer said that the Irishman committed violent acts in the men’s room.
McGregor is a former UFC Lightweight and Featherweight Champion. In total, the Irishman has 28 fights in which he won 22 victories and suffered six defeats.
