Boxer Alexander Povetkin said that he is no longer a fan of Alexander Usik
Russian heavyweight boxer Alexander Povetkin spoke about the changed attitude towards the Ukrainian Alexander Usik. His words are quoted by Match TV.
“I knew [его] on the other side. Probably, he was not left with a choice – some forces forced him. Something happened that he started talking nonsense. They started talking about me there, ”Povetkin commented on the political statements of the Ukrainian. The athlete also said that he was no longer rooting for Usyk.
On January 11, Usyk addressed the Russians during a live broadcast on Instagram (the social network is banned in the Russian Federation; belongs to the Meta corporation, which is recognized as extremist in Russia and banned). He called the citizens supporting the special operation in Ukraine “pigdogs”.
Povetkin is an Olympic champion in 2004 and a former World Boxing Association (WBA) world champion. In the professional ring, he won 36 victories, suffered three defeats and ended one fight in a draw.
Usyk has 20 wins in 20 fights. He holds the World Boxing Organization (WBO), International Boxing Federation (IBF), International Boxing Organization (IBO) and WBA Super heavyweight championship belts.
