With the numerical superiority, Benfica had no problems opening the scoreboard in the first minute, with an own goal by Kau. Seferovic had two goals, Darwin Núñez had three more and Weigl had also hit the opponent’s net before the half-time whistle.
The teams returned to the field for the second stage, but the match referee had to end the game after just three minutes, as Belenenses SAD only had six players available and could not count on enough athletes to continue in the dispute.
Benfica returns to the field for Liga Portugal next Friday at 18:15 (GMT), when they host Sporting at Estádio da Luz. Belenenses SAD will only play on the first Monday of December, when they visit Vizela at 17:15.
