Coach Haritz Mujika and sports director Asier Goiria have renewed their contract for one season with AmorebietaThis was announced by the club at the press conference this Thursday. The Biscayan team will play next season in the SmartBank League after the direct promotion achieved in Lezama against Bilbao Athletic.
Haritz Mujika took over the reins of the team in the last twelve days of the 2021/22 season, as the club bet on him to achieve permanence in the silver category. In the season just ended, after an irregular start, the blues achieved promotion directly by finishing champions of Group 2 of the First Federation adding 69 points. As if that were not enough, Mujika’s men prevailed in the champions’ final against Racing de Ferrol, thus winning the category trophy.
“This has been my first experience as a coach since the pre-season and it has helped me learn a lot. I face this challenge with joy and enthusiasm, I hope that with everyone’s work we will achieve our goal and the team will continue”, explained Mujika.
On the other hand, Asier Goiria faces his seventh consecutive campaign as sports director of Amorebieta. Since Goiria’s arrival as sports director, the Blues’ first team has experienced its most successful sporting stage, with two promotions to the Second Division: the one achieved in 2020-2021 and the one this season after finishing as champions of the First Federation.
“I want to continue making history with Amorebieta and I believe in the project that we are going to form. Military in professional football is a very big challenge and at the same time very beautiful, I face it with great enthusiasm. There is a lot of work behind it, but we know what it is our goal and we are going for it. We want this to last over time and not a matter of a year”, Goiria highlighted.
