Striker Robert Lewandowski warmed up the last transfer window by leaving the Bayern Munchena team for which he worked for eight years, to join the Barcelona. In a press conference with the Polish national team, the striker commented on his choice for the Catalan club, citing the Ballon d’Or.

Lewandowski has come close to winning the Ballon d’Or more than once. In 2020, he was even considered the favorite for the award, but the magazine France Football, responsible for the award, decided not to elect any player because of the pandemic. Last year, the Pole lost to Lionel Messi and took second place.

“I know that Barcelona is the team where more players have won the Ballon d’Or. I think the path to winning the Ballon d’Or is shorter at Barça than at Bayern”, commented the player.

The forward also spoke about the feeling of playing in a Barcelona shirt and the responsibility of having to be a decisive player at the club.

“My signing by Barcelona gave me a boost. It raised my self-esteem. I knew I had to be a decisive player in the results of the games and I’m not afraid of that role. I feel very proud of myself. Everything makes me feel privileged in the Barcelona. It’s like having new toys in your hands and playing with them. From the first days I felt I was in the right place at the right time”, said Lewandowski.
