Andrey Rublev and Aslan Karatsev beat Gonzalo Escobar and Diego Hidalgo (6-4, 4-6 and 6-4) to round off Russia’s victory 3-0 and Ecuador’s elimination from the Davis Cup Finals.

Rublev and Karatsev took two hours and a minute to seal the victory against a fighting duo that already pushed Spain to the limit on Friday.

The components of the Ecuadorian doubles, Gonzalo Escobar and Diego Hidalgo, showed that they are the main weapon of the team that leaves the Madrid Arena with a good image but without any triumph.

Rublev and Karatsev added their triumph to the two singles victories. First Andrey Rublev beat Roberto Quiroz (6-3, 4-6 and 6-1) and then the number one, Daniil Medvedev overwhelmed Emilio Gómez (6-0 and 6-2).

Russia will face Spain on Sunday at the Madrid Arena to determine the Group A champions and the team that advances to the quarterfinals. (D)
