Garazi Murua has renewed with Athletic until 2024, as reported by the Bilbao club on Wednesday. Specifically, the 28-year-old defense from Vizcaya, captain of the rojiblanco team, and Athletic have reached an agreement to extend their contract for one year, with the option of one more season: “We have a very high-quality team, very young and with a lot of potential”, said Murua.

As Athletic has specified, Murua has played, so far, 178 official matches with the rojiblanco team. She was League champion in the 2015-16 season. The central defender joined the Biscayan entity in 2010, to play in the subsidiary team, and she made her debut in the First Division on March 1, 2015.

“For me, it is an honor to be part of this transformation, and to be able to help these players to establish themselves in the Athletic first team, to convey to them what it means to play here,” Murua highlighted, after confirming his renewal.
