IIHF ignored the Russians in the congratulations of “Vegas” with the championship in the NHL

The International Ice Hockey Federation did not include the Russian Barbashev in the congratulations of “Vegas”

The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) ignored Russian forward Ivan Barbashev in congratulating the Vegas Golden Knights on the championship in the National Hockey League (NHL) in Twitter.

The organization published a collage of several Panther players wearing their national team uniforms. In the message, the IIHF noted the profiles of the US, Canadian and Swedish Ice Hockey Federations. Barbashev was not included in the collage, and there is no mention of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation in the text.

On June 14, Vegas defeated the Florida Panthers 9-3 in Game 5 of the NHL Finals to win the Stanley Cup for the first time. Barbashev was marked by an abandoned puck in the third period.

27-year-old Barbashev became a two-time Stanley Cup winner. He won his first trophy with the St. Louis Blues in the 2018/2019 season.
