Liverpool overcame Southampton this Saturday (27), winning by 4-0, for the Premier League and leaning against Chelsea, leader of the championship.
In a frantic start, the Reds opened the scoring with Diogo Jota, just after two minutes, after a beautiful pass from Mané to Robertson, who crossed for the Portuguese to swing the net. Southampton adopted a daring posture and, despite the possibility of suffering a rout, advanced the marking and pressured the ball out of Jürgen Klopp’s team.
Mané even extended, with his head, after five minutes, but the goal was disallowed by the referee for offside. The Saints’ high marking allowed Liverpool to have good counterattacks. The visitors had opportunities to draw at 23, when they stopped at goalkeeper Alisson, and at 27, however, Broja wasted the chance.
At 31 minutes, Liverpool left in a quick transition with Salah, who tabled with Henderson and handed it to Diogo Jota to mark his second, and also for the team, in the match.
With ease, the hosts reached the third goal with Thiago Alcântara, who applied a beautiful dribble and submitted, counting with a deflection by the defender Lyanco, ex-São Paulo, so that the ball stopped at the bottom of the goal. At the end of the first stage, at 44, Alisson made another great save after Southampton’s counterattack.
With the victory already declared, the second half did not have many emotions. At 51, Mané submitted from outside the area and was going to score a great goal, but McCarthy stretched out to save his team from the rout. In the very next move, Virgil van Dijk took advantage of the corner and kicked low to enforce the former’s law, sacrificing Liverpool’s rout at Anfield.
