Mike Tyson names Muhammad Ali vs Larry Holmes fight as his favorite boxing match
Former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson spoke about his favorite boxing match. His words are quoted by the YouTube channel Joe Budden TV.
The ex-champion singled out the fight of the Americans Mohammed Ali and Larry Holmes. The meeting took place on October 2, 1980 in Paradise (USA) and ended with the victory of Holmes in the tenth round. He inflicted Ali’s fourth defeat of his career. “The next day, my teacher called Ali and asked: “Why did you let this bag defeat you?” Tyson added.
Ali twice became the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. He held the title from 1964 to 1966 and from 1974 to 1978. Ali was named Boxer of the Year six times. On account of the American 56 wins (37 by knockout) with five defeats at the professional level.
Holmes held heavyweight championship belts according to the World Boxing Council (WBC), International Boxing Federation (IBF) and The Ring. He has 69 wins (44 by knockout) and six losses.
