Beñat Segurola and Aritz Juananea are the champions of the 13th edition of the Cider Tournament-Sagardoaren Txapelketa, and third of “Erremontari” by winning the final against Javier Urriza and Ibai Martirena in three sets: 11-15, 15-10 and 2-5.

It has been a very fought final, between the two best couples of the tournament. Urriza and Martirena, the colorados, have gone from less to more. They started the quarterfinals poorly, but finished it as leaders, with 12 points and three victories in five games, and in the semifinals they got rid of the most powerful couple up to that moment, the one formed by Goikoetxea V and Barrenetxea IV in two sets.

Their rivals, Segurola and Juanenea, finished second in the quarterfinals, also with three victories in five days, but with 11 points. In the semifinals, they defeated Ezkurra and Zubiri, a difficult pairing, in three sets.

For all this, the final has aroused great expectations, which has been reflected in the stands of the Galarreta. And the party has not disappointed.

In the first set, it was the red couple that started the best, with an aggressive Urriza up front and well supported by Martirena at the back. Thus, in a few minutes they have taken a 5-1 lead, with a blue couple who have noticed a lot the lack of confidence that Segurola has shown in the early stages.

However, the blues have been getting into tune with the passing of the minutes and have touched the tie with the 6-5 and 7-6 on the scoreboard, but the reds have escaped again 10-7. And there began the comeback of Segurola and Juanenea; a partial of 0-8 has overturned the score and has given the victory in this first set to the blue couple (11-15).

In the second set, Urriza and Martirena came out determined to tie the final and, after drawing three goals, they opened up a gap to take a 9-3 lead. The set was clearly red, and it has continued like this until the end: 15-10.

Third and decisive set

The final was decided in the third set, played, as in the rest of the tournament, to five goals. A game played with a lot of tension by the four comeback players and that the Blues have begun to shape, leading 1-3.
