Renan Lodi may return to Brazil next season, says newspaper

Renan Lodi should return to Brazil next season. According to the Spanish daily Asthe Brazilian’s journey through Europe may have come to an end, as the main objective of the left-back, at this moment, is to return to play in his home country.

Lodi played for England’s Nottingham Forest during the last season. He arrived at the English club on loan from Atlético de Madrid. The winger went to Europe in the 2019-2020 season, after the Spanish team bought him from Athletico-PR for around 22 million euros (R$ 115 million).

However, returning from loan to the English team, he is not expected to remain at the Spanish capital club, as explained by the As. O Atletico Madrid already made it clear that the left-back is for sale – that’s because the bad relationship between the player and Argentine coach Diego Simeone has reached a point of no return.

Despite having drawn the attention of several clubs in Italy, England and Portugal, the 25-year-old would be determined to return to Brazilian football.

O Benfica, after the departure of Alejandro Grimaldo, would have sought to know more details about the athlete’s situation. Nottingham Forest also wanted to buy him after the end of the loan and even talked to Lodi, but he would have refused the proposal.

Sources close to the Brazilian told the Spanish newspaper that Renan Lodi had already “conquered everything he wanted to achieve in European football”, and his main goal is currently to return to Brazil.
