Uruguay beat Italy to win the World Youth Championship
The national team of Uruguay beat the national team of Italy in the final of the youth world football championship and for the first time became the owner of this trophy, the correspondent of Lenta.ru reports.
The final meeting, held in the Argentine city of La Plata, ended with the score 1:0. The only goal was scored by Luciano Rodriguez in the 86th minute of the match.
Thus, Uruguay for the first time in history became the winner of the World Youth Championship. In 1997 and 2013, the Latin American team became the vice-champion of the tournament, and in 1979 became the bronze medalist.
Earlier it became known that the International Football Association Board (IFAB) published a list of changes that will be made to the rules in the 2022/2023 season. The amendments will come into force on July 1, 2023. In particular, the referees will separately take into account goal celebrations when calculating stoppage time.
