Manchester City e Inter Milan meet this Saturday afternoon, at 4 pm (Brasília time), in the competition for the Europe Champions League, at Ataturk Olympic Stadium, Istanbul, Turkey. Despite being two centennial clubs, this will be the first official duel between them in history.
This is because the Italians and the English have already faced each other twice, in 2010 and 2011, but both occasions were friendly matches.
In fact, this will be the first time since the 2005 decision between Milan and Liverpool, precisely in Istanbul, that the Champions League final registers an unprecedented confrontation between the clubs.

The friendlies between City and Inter Milan
In this small retrospective between the teams, City has the advantage, it is already the only winner of the confrontation, which also has a draw. The first meeting between the teams, on July 31, 2010, ended in a 3-3 draw. The second, held exactly one year later, ended with a 3-0 English triumph.
It is worth remembering that the friendly ended in equality took place just two months after the Italians won their third Champions League – the last time they were champions of the tournament.
This time, however, in addition to the squads, the context of the clash is completely different from the previous ones. This Saturday, Internazionale and Citizens will go with maximum focus and strength for the game, which is worth the cup of Europe’s main competition.

A prominent character in the duel is striker Edin Dzeko, who wore the shirt of the Manchester club at the time of the friendlies and currently defends the Milan team to try to reach the whole of European football.
Manchester City, runner-up in 2020/21 to rival Chelsea, is looking for the dreamed first title of the continental competition in its history. Three-time champion (1963/64, 1964/65, 2009/10) and twice vice-champion (1966/67 and 1971/72), Internazionale aims to raise the “Ears” again after 13 years.
