Before the elections, the former president of the FEDA describes the current head of the national body as a “liar” | Other Sports | sports

Felipe Delgado, who directed the national chess for a year and a half, says that the debt before FIDE was not in his administration because it was not recognized as such.

This Saturday the elections will be held to appoint the new board of directors of the Ecuadorian Chess Federation (FEDA) and the current head of this body, Emilio Bastidas, he was questioned about his performance by members of his board of directors and club leaders. The manager defended himself and made it known that he will support his brother Jaime to replace him and questioned a probable candidacy of Martha Fierro.

In addition, the president of the FEDA criticized the directives that preceded it and blamed one of the former presidents, Felipe Delgado, for having increased, in three years, the debt of the FEDA before the International Chess Federation (FIDE) and described his management as disastrous.

Delgado stepped forward to the statements made by Bastidas who said that “in the three disastrous years with Felipe Delgado The debt, which was at 3,900 euros (4,365.86 dollars), rose to 27,000 euros (30,225.15 dollars) and under those conditions I entered the board of directors with Rocío Vasquez, as vice president, then she left and I fulfilled the term ”.

The ex-chess leader denies that the FEDA debt has increased in its period with FIDE. “The amount of the debt is another Bastidas lie. Debts to FIDE are not contracted by any loan, but by the participation of our athletes in international tournaments or by payment of memberships of the achieved or existing titles (Grand Master, Master, International Referee, National Referee etc.). Before we joined, the debt was 12,748 euros (14,430.74 dollars) ”.

Delgado points out that, “Citizen Emilio Bastidas lies cheekily. He says that I have directed the FEDA for three years, when in fact it was a year and a half. We didn’t get a penny until 2013 and in 2014 it was blocked by the sadly remembered Minister José Cevallos. The directory headed by the architect Eduardo Mieles, stayed until April 1, 2012, then an intervention came close to six months later ”.

“We have been in the FEDA since January 2013 and surprisingly, without a legal process, call it intervention, reprimand, disciplinary offense, without any cause, interrupted our legal period through an Official Registry published on July 17, 2014. After a collusion and null legal process coordinated by the Ministry of Sports, led by José Cevallos, and suddenly a new directive appeared”Remembers Delgado.

“If Mr. Bastidas had read the record of his board, where he was vice president, I would appreciate that he was appointed in March 2014, and has served since August 2014. Probably the requirement of clear accounts, promoted by its own board of directors, not only causes memory to fail but even mathematics ”, reiterates the former head of the FEDA.

“Where does Mr. Bastidas get such figures from 4,000 ($ 4,528.00) to 27,000 euros (($ 30,225.15)?Publicly intends to present us as architects of a debt not contracted by us? Due to the management of the directive prior to ours, we were not recognized by FIDE and therefore we could not have a formal relationship with them; thus, we were always obliged to pay the registration at the time of attending. That is known to chess players from all over the country ”, defends Delgado.

The Cuencano states, “It would be interesting if Mr. Bastidas present the detail of the debt and his bad intention of wanting to discredit a directive that was consistent with athletes will be proven. Use the qualifier of ‘fatal’ to our directory does nothing more than show what his spirit contains inside”.

“In the midst of the internal fights of the FEDA we have nothing to do. We have not been on the board of directors for more than seven years due to exclusion ordered by the then government (Rafael Correa). Until recently, in the board of directors chaired by Mr. Bastidas, he got along very well; so well, they let the fact that Ecuador was removed from the last World Chess Olympiad, and no action has been taken ”, Delgado clarifies, (D)
