Italy beats South Korea to decide U-20 World Cup against Uruguay

A Italy is in the U-20 World Cup final. This Thursday, the Italians beat South Korea by 2-1, at the Estadio Único Diego Armando Maradona, in La Plata, Argentina, and advanced to the big decision. Thus, they will dispute the title with Uruguay, which, earlier, passed through Israel.

Casadei, in the first half, opened the scoring for Italy, and Lee left everything the same. in the final minutes of the second stage, Pafundi scored a great free-kick, clinching the Italian victory.

The final takes place this Sunday, June 11, at 6 pm (Brasília time). Meanwhile, South Korea vs Israel will play for third place.

Italy opened the scoring in the 13th minute of the first half, with a great goal by Casadei. Ambrosino won the dispute on the left side, Turicchia kept the ball and touched it at the edge of the area to drop a bomb and stuff Joon-Hong Kim’s net.

South Korea’s response came almost immediately. Joon-Ho Bae was brought down in the area and after VAR review, the referee awarded the penalty. In charge, Lee left everything the same.

After equality in the first half, the teams returned to the final stage looking for the winning goal. Italy almost made the second, with Matteo Prati, with a header, but saw the goalkeeper save.

Korea then put the Italians in danger at the 18th minute. Seung-Won Lee shot from close range, but Desplanches was attentive and defended. In the 40th minute, Simone Pafundi, who had just entered the match, slammed his left leg over the Korean barrier and scored a great goal, securing Italy in the final of the U-20 World Cup.
