The coach of the FranceDidier Deschamps has called up midfielder Jordan Veretout, from Olympique de Marseille, to replace Real Madrid left-back Ferland Mendy, who suffered a tibial injury, the French Football Federation said on Thursday (8).
“Currently undergoing treatment in Qatar for pain in his shinbone, Ferland Mendy will not be able to attend the France squad,” the FFF said in a statement.

Deschamps opted to call up the 30-year-old Veretout for the next two Euro 2024 qualifiers against Gibraltar (June 16) and Greece (June 19).
France leads its group in the qualifying phase, after the two victories it achieved in March, 4-0 over the Netherlands and 1-0 over Ireland.
