West Ham chairman confirms Declan Rice will not remain at club

Less than 24 hours after winning the Conference League title, the president of the West Ham, David Sullivan, confirmed this Thursday that the English midfielder Declan Rice, captain of the team, will not remain at the club. The player was formed at the base of the English club since 2013 and was a key player in the team’s first title in 43 years.

“We promised to let him go. He’s got it in his head that he wants to go and when the time comes he’ll go on his way and we’ll have to look for a replacement,” Sullivan told the station. TalkSport.

“It’s not something we wanted. We offered 230,000 euros (R$ 1.2 million at current prices) in salary a year and a half ago, but he refused. We can’t keep a player who doesn’t want to stay”, added the manager.

West Ham were champions of the Conference League on Wednesday, defeat Fiorentina in the final 2-1. With the victory, the team broke a title drought that had been going on since 1980. On the other hand, the sale of Rice, valued after the European conquest, could be very good for the coffers of the London club.

“I think the offers will start coming in from today. Three or four clubs have already shown interest,” said Sullivan.

According to the British press, Arsenal, Manchester United It is Bayern Munchen are interested in signing the player. The transfer could exceed 100 million euros (R$ 525 million).
