West Ham – thanks to Jarrod Bowen’s decisive participation – won the UEFA Conference League by beat Fiorentina 2-1 in the final played this Wednesday (7) in Prague, in the Czech Republic.
The Algerian Saïd Benrahma, opened the scoring for the English team (62′) and Giacomo Bonaventura equalized for ‘Viola’ shortly after (67′). But when it looked like there was going to be extra time, Bowen scored the winning goal for the ‘Hammers’ (90′).
“Of course I dreamed of scoring, but scoring the winning goal and in the last minute… It’s what we always say we want to do”, said an emotional Bowen (26) after the game.
“And also to do it in front of these fans. I thought I was going to cry. I’m very happy,” added Bowen, who admitted playing “the best game of my career”.
“We had a dream, we didn’t have our best season, including me, but after giving that to the fans now… I’m on cloud nine!” he insisted.

This is the English club’s first continental title in 58 years. The only European cup present until then in the gallery of the London club was the 1965 Recopa. The other continental final he played, also in the defunct Recopa, was lost to Anderlecht, in 1976.
West Ham, who finished in disappointing 14th in the Premier League, had not won a title since the 1980 FA Cup, in which they won the decider against Arsenal.
In addition to the title, the London club, which succeeds Roma in the list of champions of the third most important European club competition, wins a place in the next edition of the Europa League.
