Inter concedes a draw to Nacional and loses the chance to guarantee an early vacancy in Libertadores

On Wednesday night, the International visited Nacional, from Uruguay, at the Parque Central Stadium, in Montevideo (URU), for the fifth round of the Copa liberatorsand drew 1-1. Alan Patrick scored the Brazilian goal, while Damiani scored the home goal.

Thus, Colorado remains undefeated in the continental competition – fifth straight game without defeat in the season -, but misses the chance to guarantee early classification for the round of 16. The club from Rio Grande do Sul remains in the lead, with nine points, but can still be out of the next phase.

In turn, the Uruguayans reach the third consecutive match without a triumph in the tournament, but are still alive in the tournament. The team appears in second place, with eight goals, one ahead of Independiente MedellĆn-COL, which has seven, in third place, and still plays in the round, against the already eliminated Metropolitanos-VEN, bottom with zero points, on Thursday- fair, away from home.

In the next round, therefore, Internacional ends the group stage against the Colombian club, at 7 pm (BrasĆlia time) on Wednesday (28), in Beira-Rio, in Porto Alegre (RS). At the same time, Nacional receives the Venezuelan team, again at the Parque Central Stadium.

Before that, however, Colorado turns its attention to the tenth round of the Brazilian Championship. On Sunday, the team from Rio Grande do Sul faces Vasco, starting at 4 pm, in Beira-Rio.

The game between National and International

The first big chance for Internacional came from Johnny’s feet, in the 28th minute of the first half. The midfielder was saved by Mercado after a free kick by De Pena and sent it to the goal, but Rochet made a great save to prevent the goal. At 43, it was Pedro Henrique’s turn to test the Uruguayan goalkeeper, who avoided the goal again.

On the way back from the break, the Brazilian club needed ten minutes to be in danger, in a long-range shot by Alan Patrick, but the ball deflected and went out. Seven minutes later, Internacional’s number 10 finally opened the scoring at EstĆ”dio Parque Central after receiving from Pedro Henrique inside the area and hitting first to score 1-0.

Nacional’s answer came in the 26th minute. After a wrong cut by RenĆŖ, the ball fell to Ignacio RamĆrez, who missed a clear chance inside the small area, kicking it outside. Already at 34 of the complementary stage, the owners of the house had a penalty scored in favor after Wanderson blocked a cross with his hand. However, after analysis on the VAR monitor, the referee annulled the penalty for a foul on Igor Gomes at the start of the play.

Finally, the Uruguayan team finally got the tie in the final 43 minutes. After a free kick in the area, Damiani, who had just entered, went higher than Mercado and tested the back of the goal, leaving everything the same in Uruguay.
