In the final meeting, held in Prague at the Sinobo Stadium, the team was stronger than the Italian Fiorentina with a score of 2:1. In the 62nd minute, the British took the lead thanks to a penalty, which was converted by midfielder Said Benrahma. Five minutes later, midfielder Giacomo Bonaventure equalized. Midfielder Jerrod Bowen scored the winning goal in the 90th minute.
During the match, fans smashed the head of Fiorentina captain Cristiano Biragi with a glass. He received a cut, because of which the referees had to stop the match.
West Ham won the Conference League for the first time in history. The club became the owner of the Cup Winners’ Cup, as well as the Intertoto Cup.
The Conference League is the second most important club tournament in the Old World after the Champions League. The winner of the Champions League will be determined in the final match on June 10. It will play the Italian “Inter” and the English “Manchester City”.
