La Real and Bayer Leverkusen will play a charity friendly against a neuromuscular disease

Real Sociedad and Bayer Leverkusentrained by Xabi Alonso, will play a charity match on July 29 at the Reale Arena in order to raise funds for the Columbus Foundation, which fights against a rare neuromuscular disease called SPG50.
As reported by this foundation in a note, the collection of the party, which sHeld under the motto “Score a goal for SPG50!”, it will go towards carrying out a clinical trial on this “devastating” neuromuscular genetic disease, which affects a very small number of children.
The Columbus Foundation, Elpida Therapeutics and Viralgen have joined forces to develop a treatment that is now in a clinical trial in the United States, and that from January 2024 will begin a trial in Osakidetza, in the Pediatric Service of the Donostia University Hospital and in the BioGipuzkoa health research institute, in which affected children from Spain, Germany and Italy will participate.
In addition to the Columbus Foundation, the Guipuzcoan Association Against Cancer will support the event, and part of the proceeds will go to help summer camps for Gipuzkoan minors affected by cancer.
