Lots of glory Emelecheaded by Salvador Capitano, Enrique Verduga and Luis Capurromeet from this week at Guayaquil as part of the commemorative event for 30 years of the seventh national championship of football that achieved a million dollar team against Green Croos in the city of Manta in 1993.
The celebration includes a friendly match between the blue celebrities against the Manabita team, on Monday, June 12 at the George Capwell Stadium, which will serve as a prelude to the fourteenth round match of the Emelec Pro Serie A league against Gualace.
Since Tuesday afternoon, coach Capitano has been in town with his former assistant Raul Marcovich. This will lead to the historic staff of the Blue Ballet.
According to event organizer Xavier Izurieta, more than 20 players and managers of the time were invited, among them Nassib Neme.
Apart from Capitan and Marcovich, Marcelo was also invited pepo Morales, Marcelo Benítez, Emilio Valencia, Máximo Tenorio, José Campos (played in 1992), Iván Hurtado, Enrique Verduga, Kléber Fajardo, Tomás Arboleda, Xavier Medica, Edwin Ramírez, Marcos Caicedo, José Federico Minda, Humberto Garcés, Jacinto Espinoza, Ángel Fernández, Ángel Hurtado, Luis Capurro, Jesús Cárdenas, Eduardo Aparicio (1988 champion), Pachito Vidal and Eduardo Smith.
The former football players will complete a series of activities and go to a private dinner. In addition, six restaurants in the city gathered to bring together the blue champions of 1993 so that their guests could witness the memories of the moments of glory of the Sport Emelec Club in the voice of the protagonists themselves.
Upon his arrival in Guayaquil, Capitano clarified – in jest – that he was only coming to direct this friendly match.
“It’s a pleasure to come back and come back for what we’ve been planning for a long time. You should all already know about the 30th anniversary of the championship in 1993. It will be a great pleasure to be with everyone who is, well, older… but we have planned a meeting in two, three, four years, and it is not easy to do even if it seems from the outside. We do it with immense joy, satisfaction that there is a great desire for what you see from people to join us that day,” José Joaquín de Olmedo told reporters at the airport.

Champions by the hand of Capitan
In 1993, Emelec returned to Ecuadorian football. A powerful team is the key to winning the seventh blue title.
It has the best defense in the country, the base of the national team: Dannes Coronel, Máximo Tenorio, Iván Hurtado and Luis Capurro. Marcelo pepo Morales, Kleber Fajardo and Enrique Verduga. They are part of a line of flyers that offer talent, restraint and determination.
The offense is elusive Angel Fernandez and Argentinian Robert Ost (the team’s top scorer with 14 goals) to his point guards; Jesus Cardenasturned into a game generator, displays its category when used.
The dedication is given December 12, 1993, at Jocay Stadium, in Manta. Hurtado’s free kick sealed an electric 1-0 win and the crown against Green Cross. Barcelona SC and El Nacional play two extra games to define the vice-championship, which is for the yellows.
