After months of negotiations and suspense, the fate of Jude Bellingham has officially been revealed. This Wednesday, Borussia Dortmund, from Germany, confirmed the sale of the English midfielder to Real Madrid, from Spain, for more than 100 million euros.
“The player Jude Bellingham is about to be transferred from Borussia Dortmund GmbH & Co. KGaA to Real Madrid CF. The parties reached agreement on the merits of this today. Contract details still need to be coordinated and documented. Implementation of the transfer is also subject to proper and timely processing in accordance with the provisions of the FIFA Transfer Matching System,” the German club wrote in a statement.
Named best player Bundesliga this season, Bellingham leaves Borussia Dortmund after three years wearing the yellow and black colors. Real Madrid will pay 103 million euros to have the player, in addition to variables that can reach up to 30 million.
“Variable transfer fees depend on Real Madrid achieving certain sporting achievements and/or sporting achievements or player performance at Real Madrid over the next six seasons,” Borussia Dortmund said.
Bellingham was formed in the youth categories of Birmingham City, where he caught the attention of German football in 2020. At age 19, the midfielder has already played 200 official games, including for the England national team at the Qatar World Cup.
