Serhiy Rebrov is the new coach of the Ukraine national team

Former striker Serhiy Rebrov was announced on Wednesday by the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) as the new coach of the national team.

“It’s a new stage in the history of Ukrainian football. A different moment because the new page will be written during martial law, in a special period of our country”, declared the president of the UAF, Andriy Pavelko, referring to the war that takes place in Ukraine. Ukraine since the invasion of Russia in February 2022.

Reblov replaces coach Ruslan Rotan and his contract runs until July 30, 2026, after the World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

His debut in charge of the Ukrainian national team will be in a friendly against Germany on June 12, ahead of the Euro 2024 qualifiers against North Macedonia (June 16) and Malta (June 19).

After retiring as a player, Rebrov had his first coaching experience at Dynamo Kyiv (2014-2017), where he was twice Ukrainian champions.

Afterwards, he coached Al-Ahli (Saudi Arabia), Ferencvaros (Hungary), and Al-Ain (United Arab Emirates), a club he left last week.
