Streaming, own club and sponsorship: See what MLS is offering to sign Messi

The future of Lionel Messi has been the great soap opera of this end of season in Europe. The Argentine is at the end of his contract with Paris Saint Germain and is desired by Barcelona. However, the star’s next destination may be on another continent.

That’s because Al-Hilal, from Saudi Arabia, and Inter Miami, from the United States, have already admitted their interest in signing Messi. The Arab club’s proposal revolves around 200 million euros a month, but according to The Athletic, the player would have ruled out the transfer.

Thus, American football appears as an option for Messi. Also according to the English newspaper, Inter Miami and MLS, the US soccer league, would be joining forces to present a “generous” proposal to the Argentine.

The offer for Messi would be a high millionaire salary, of undisclosed value, in addition to several commissions. Among them, part of the revenue from streaming Apple TV +, which owns the MLS broadcast rights for 10 years. The platform believes that the arrival of the star can increase the number of subscribers and announced that it will release a documentary about Messi in the World Cup in Qatar.

The sporting goods brand Adidas would also be involved in the US proposal. The supplier has been the official sponsor of the competition since 1996 and of Lionel Messi, who would receive a bonus if the deal goes through.

Inter Miami is owned by former player David Beckham. Part of the MLS offer would also enable Messi to follow in the Englishman’s footsteps and buy a club license in the United States once the Argentine retires from the pitch.
