The pairs formed by Javier Urriza and Ibai Martyrena and by Benat Segurola and Aritz Juanenea They are going to play, next Monday, June 12, at the Galarreta fronton in Hernani, the final of the XIII Cider Tournament of “Erremontari”. In the semifinals that have been played, in that same venue, this Monday, Urriza-Martirena have defeated Goikoetxea V-Barrenetxea IV by two sets to zero (15-14 and 15-2)while Segurola-Juanenea they have eliminated Ezkurra II-Zubiri in three sets (13-15, 15-13 and 5-2)achieving, in this way, the ticket for the grand finale of “Erremontari”.
The txapelas of this Cider Tournament, consequently, are going to be played the couples that managed to qualify in the first two places of the quarterfinal group. Urriza-Martirena and Segurola-Juanenea were the most consistent in that quarterfinal phase, and have ratified that dominance in the semifinal duels. When they met in the quarterfinals, Segurola and Juanenea achieved victory, by two sets to one, on the third day, on May 1; but that was a league, and offered a margin of error that cannot be found in a final that looks very attractive.
So things, Urriza and Martirena have clearly won, against Goikoetxea V and Barrenetxea IV, in the first semifinal. Los Colorados, the Navarrese couple, representing the cider house allorrenea, they have sentenced the match in two sets; the blues, the Gipuzkoan couple, who have represented the cider house Oialume Tsarthey have demanded their rivals to the maximum in the first set, but in the second they have had no choice.
At the start of the match, Javier Urriza and Ibai Martirena took the initiative, with differences that, from 5-3, have gradually widened. The 8-5 with which it has been reached at halftime has shot up to 11-5 minutes later, but, at that point, the semifinal has changed, and the blues have begun to come back; With a 5-0 run, Goikoetxea and Barrenetxea have tied at 11, although the Colorados have not collapsed, and have put up a 14-12 that seemed definitive. The blue couple has fought until the end, and has forced a new tie, at 14, which has been resolved in favor of Urriza and Martirena.
Driven by that 1-0 score achieved in the last goal of the first set, the Colorados started the second with great success and with enormous spirit. The striker from Pamplona, Urriza, and the defender from Lekunberri, Martirena, have taken the lead on the scoreboard and, with a very constant and solid game, have incessantly extended their advantage until the final 15-2. Goikoetxea and Barrenetxea have not been able to put their rivals in trouble; Urnieta’s striker did not manage to do any damage in the shot, and, at the back, Barrenetxea, who was playing at home, in Hernani, did not manage to beat Martirena either.
This way, Urriza and Martirena have returned to their rivals the 2-0 that they achieved in the quarterfinals, on the opening day; then, the two Gipuzkoans took the victory by 15-7 and 15-12, but now, in the run-up to the final, the first classified of that group have ratified their good moment, taking the first ticket for the final match.
The second semifinal has been more even, and has been resolved, in favor of Segurola and Juanenea, in the tiebreaker set. The Colorados have dominated in many moments of the first set, but, finally, the Blues have won the point. Beñat Segurola and Aritz Juanenea, representatives of the cider house Bereziartua, they have reached 10-4, just after the break; but Josetxo Ezkurra and Aritz Zubiri, who have represented the cider house gurutzeta, they have not given their arm to twist, and, with a 7-1 run in their favor, they have established the equalizer at 11 goals. In the final stretch of the initial set, Ezkurra and Zubiri have known how to control their nerves better than their rivals, and have made it 1-0 after ultimately winning 15-13.
The striker from Santesteban and the defender from Goizueta, after taking the lead in this way in the semifinal, entered the second set with much more strength than their rivals: the 6-1 that the Galarreta scorer recorded set off alarm bells for the couple red, who saw how the final was getting further and further away. But, from 2-6, Segurola, Aizarnazabal’s striker, has been able to play more comfortably, and Juanenea, Saldias’s, from behind, has placed several serves with great quality. Thus, in the twinkling of an eye, the Colorados have taken the lead, 8-7, and have stretched their advantage until the subsequent 12-7. Ezkurra and Zubiri have equalized at 12 and 13, but the last two goals have fallen from the red side, which has led the match to the tiebreaker set.
In that final set, the superiority of Segurola and Juanenea has been clear; the 5-2 with which they have achieved the classification testifies to this. It has been repeated like this what happened in the quarterfinalsa week ago, when the already finalists came back to score the victory by two sets to one.
