Daughter Tutberidze commented on the transition to the Georgian national team

Figure skaters Davis and Smolkin wrote about a new chapter in life after joining the Georgian national team

Dance duet Diana Davis and Gleb Smolkin on Instagram (the social network is banned in Russia; it belongs to the Meta corporation, which is recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation) commented on the transition to the Georgian national team.

The skaters thanked the fans for their support by writing an appeal in Russian, English and Georgian. “A new chapter in our sports life begins. We are looking forward to the opportunity to enter the competitive ice!” — wrote the daughter of the Russian coach Eteri Tutberidze.

On May 5, the head coach of the national team, Elena Chaikovskaya, confirmed that the executive committee of the Russian Figure Skating Federation approved the change of sports citizenship for Davis and Smolkin. Later, the transfer of the couple was confirmed in Georgia.

Davis and Smolkin made their debut in the adult Russian team in the 2021/2022 season. They became eighth at the European Championships and took 14th place at the Beijing Olympics. The 2022/2023 season was missed by athletes living in the USA.
