Russian tennis player Varvara Gracheva changed her sports citizenship to French. It is reported by L’Equipe.
According to the source, on June 5, the 22-year-old athlete received an official letter. It confirms her naturalization. Grachev meets the criterion according to which, in order to obtain citizenship, one must live in the country for five years.
On March 27, it became known that Gracheva had passed the language tests necessary to obtain French citizenship. The athlete said that she made the decision before the coronavirus pandemic, as she has been living in France for more than six years.
The tennis player takes 41st place in the ranking of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA). On March 6, for the first time in her career, she reached the final of the WTA tournament: in the decisive match of the competition in Austin (USA), the Russian woman lost to Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk.
