Booted by the stands, Kasatkina said she was leaving Roland Garros with a bitter feeling
Russian tennis player Daria Kasatkina complained to Twitter to the stands who booed her at Roland Garros.
“I leave Paris with a very bitter feeling. All these days, after each match, I always thanked the stands for their support. But yesterday I was booed for the fact that I just respectfully reacted to the opponent’s desire not to shake my hand, ”said the athlete. She noted that leaving the court in such a state was the worst moment of the day.
On June 4, Kasatkina lost to Ukrainian Elina Svitolina in the fourth round of the French Open (4:6, 6:7 (5:7)). After the match, the athletes did not shake hands. The Ukrainian previously explained that she refuses to shake hands with the Russians because of the government’s decision.
Roland Garros takes place in Paris from May 28 to June 10. Russian and Belarusian athletes take part in the tournament in a neutral status.
