Real Madrid announces departure of Benzema after 14 seasons

After much speculation, the Real Madrid finally announced the departure of Karim Benzema after 14 seasons as an athlete for the merengue club. The Frenchman joined the team in 2009, aged 21, and was part of one of the team’s most successful eras.

To mark the farewell of one of its greatest recent idols, the club will hold a ceremony at Ciudad Real Madrid next Tuesday, with the presence of president Florentino Pérez.
