On Saturday morning, the Barcelona beat Wolfsburg 3-2 to win the Women’s Champions League. The duel took place at PSV’s stadium, Philips Stadion, in Eindhoven, Netherlands.
After winning the second title of the competition in the entire history of the club, the Barcelona players gave their statements about the feeling of winning one more Women’s Champions League and they also highlighted the difficulty of conceding two goals in the initial stage – the Catalan team managed to come back in the second stage.
“The result was not being fair. If they scored two goals in 45 minutes the way the first half had been, we could score 3, 4, or as many more as needed”, explained Aitana Bonmatí, Barcelona midfielder. Coach Jonatan Giráldez also said that the initial stage “was very unfair, due to the result and the chances of danger that we created. I am very happy and content”.
Captain of the Catalan team, Alexia Putellas dedicated the title to the fans and all Barça employees, from the board to the coaching staff. “It was a very good year for the team. We won all the titles, with the exception of the (Queen’s) Cup. Since we left Turin (where the 21/22 Women’s Champions League final), we wanted to come back here”.

Author of the two goals that led to the draw of the match, Patri Guijarro recognizes that the team entered the field turned off. “We had to enter the field more seriously. But I believe the team was creating chances that didn’t come up. But at halftime, with the coach’s tips and believing in ourselves… I think we learned from last year for this one’.

Finally, Mapi León also celebrated the winning of the team’s second Champions League. “It’s all happiness. We felt we owed it to the fans after what happened last year. The match was very complicated. You start to think a lot and the ghosts appear… but we couldn’t be more proud, we recovered and here it is the gold medal”.
“The second Champions League means everything to us. It’s really very special. I’ve already lost two, the first one without the fans’ support. I’m immensely happy”, concluded the defender.
