PSG officially announces departure of striker Lionel Messi
Paris Saint-Germain have officially announced the departure of Argentine striker Lionel Messi. The announcement has been posted on the team’s website.
“The club would like to sincerely thank the seven-time winner of the Ballon d’Or, who won the French Super Cup and two national championships in red and blue colors,” the Parisians said in a statement.
Earlier, Messi’s words about leaving PSG were published by journalist Fabrizio Romano. The Argentine said he was happy to represent the club and thanked the Parisians for a wonderful experience. “I was genuinely happy to be on this team with such skilled players,” he added.
Messi became a PSG player in 2021. His contract with the Parisians runs until June 2023 with the option of a one-season extension. Prior to that, the striker played for Barcelona throughout his career. As part of the Catalans, he won the Spanish championship ten times and won the Champions League four times.
