Sevilla beat Roma 4-1 on penalties (after a 1-1 draw after 120 minutes) to clinch their seventh league title Europa Leaguethis Wednesday (31), in the final played at Puskas Arena, in Budapest, Hungary.
“We don’t train because it’s not the same thing to take a penalty in training and do it in front of 60,000 people” in a final, admitted coach José Luis Mendilibar, who still has not renewed with Sevilla. “I don’t care,” he emphasized.
After a very difficult season, in which the first two thirds had to fight at the bottom of the LaLiga table, Sevilla not only continues to gain prestige with another Europa League title, but also conquers a place in the next League of Champions.
Argentinian Dybala, who was in the starting lineup despite Mourinho having assured the day before that he would only play “20 or 30 minutes”, put the Italians ahead in the first half (34′), but defender Gianluca Mancini scored against (55′) the goal of a draw and completed his bad performance by wasting his kick in the penalty shoot-out that gave Sevilla the title. The other missed penalty was from Brazilian Roger Ibáñez.

Sevilla fans displayed a huge banner before the game with the image of a Roman emperor with his thumb down and the message ‘Imperium nostrum’ (‘Our Empire’), making it clear to the Italians who is in charge of the tournament in which they maintain a two-decade hegemony that seems to have no end.
“Nobody wants (the cup) like we do”, Sevilla fans usually say to try to explain their seven titles since 2006 and an image of invincibility in this competition, whatever happens.
