Roma manager Mourinho says players gave everything in Europa League final against Sevilla
Roma head coach Jose Mourinho praised Sevilla’s loss in the Europa League final. His words are available on the website of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA).
“I won five finals and lost this one, but I come home with my head held high. The guys gave everything,” he said. The specialist noted that the final turned out to be intense and bright, the Italian team felt pressure from the Spanish club, which, in his opinion, has more talented players.
“We lost the game, but we didn’t lose our dignity. I’m going home with a sense of pride,” Mourinho said. He congratulated Sevilla, as well as his players, and added that they should go home with peace of mind.
In the decisive meeting of the Europa League, Sevilla turned out to be stronger than Roma in the post-match penalty shootout. In the 55th minute, Sevilla equalized thanks to an own goal from defender Gianluca Mancini.
