The head of WADA Vitold Banka said about the low confidence in the anti-doping system of Russia
The head of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Vitold Banka spoke about the anti-doping system in Russia. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
“The Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) will remain non-compliant until it fulfills all conditions under the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and until we receive confirmation of this,” he said. Banka noted that faith in the Russian anti-doping system remains low and the organization will continue to monitor the process.
Earlier, Russian Minister of Sports Oleg Matytsin criticized WADA’s requirements for RUSADA. He called them direct interference in the legislative process.
In December 2019, the WADA executive committee decided to deprive Russia of the right to host the Olympic Games and World Championships, and Russian athletes to compete without a flag and anthem for four years. The reason was the deprivation of RUSADA of the status of compliance. In November 2022, WADA decided to extend the suspension of RUSADA.
