Manchester City champion Pep Guardiola named Premier League manager

O Manchester City conquered the English Championship for the ninth time in the last week, again under Pep Guardiola. The Spaniard, who has lifted another 11 cups with the club, was named Premier League Manager of the Season on Tuesday.

Guardiola, who received the individual award for the fourth time in his career, guided Manchester City to a third successive title in the competition. After spending 16 consecutive rounds in second place, behind Arsenalthe team managed to take the lead with only five rounds left for the end of the tournament.

Manchester City’s season is almost perfect. In all, there were only seven defeats in the 59 matches played so far. Before the setback against Brentford last Sunday, the team had a 25-match unbeaten streak.

Now, the Spaniard accumulates 12 titles for Manchester City: five English Championships, one FA Cup, four English League Cups and two English Super Cups. Outside the English club, Guardiola won the Champions League twice, with Barcelonaand three Club World Cups, among others.

The count could increase even this season. Guardiola will have his second opportunity to conquer the Champions Leaguea tournament never won by Manchester City, on the next 10th, when they will face Inter Milan at the final.
