Bayern midfielder Joshua Kimmich will lose more than one million euros for not being vaccinated against COVID-19

The German Bayern international decided not to get vaccinated and got infected.

The decision not to get vaccinated against COVID-19 is beginning to seriously affect Joshua Kimmich’s pocketbook. A new law issued in Bavaria allows cutting the salary of employees in case they have to undergo quarantine as a result of not being immunized, a regulation that Bayern Munich will also apply with its star. In the case of Kimmich, his losses would already be around one and a half million euros (1,6,813,022 dollars).

It should be remembered that the midfielder had already added two consecutive quarantines before testing positive this week. Both occurred after being in close contact with two positives, first his partner Niklas Süle and then a member of the staff from Bayern. They were two weeks in isolation to which, now, two more are added after his own positive. As the newspaper reveals image, the salary of the German international amounts to around 20 million euros per year ($ 22.41 million), which would be equivalent to 384,000 euros ($ 430,414) per week. The month off, therefore, would cost you more than a million and a half euros ($ 1,6,813,022).

When asked about the measure applied, Julian Nagelsmann did not want it to be interpreted as a kind of punishment by the club. The Bayern coach stressed the current law that allows the club to take this type of measure, as occurs in other types of labor sectors in order to protect the rights of the employer. Kimmich is not the only one who loses money by not getting vaccinated in Munich. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, Michal Cuisance, Jamal Musiala and Serge Gnabry (the last two already with the first dose) also had to isolate themselves as they were not immunized. (D)
