Arshavin said that he would not have known about the congratulations from Arsenal if he had not been called
Former Arsenal football player Andrey Arshavin appreciated the club’s decision to remove the post dedicated to him. His words are reported by “Championship”.
“If they hadn’t called me in the morning, I wouldn’t even have known about the congratulations. If they didn’t call me for the second time in the evening, I wouldn’t even know what was deleted, ”he said. Arshavin added that the response of the Russian team to the situation was obvious.
On May 29, the London club published a post with congratulations on the occasion of Arshavin’s birthday. “We wish you a good day, Andrei,” the team wished. The post was later deleted due to criticism from Ukrainian fans. “You can delete a post, but not erase your history,” commented the press service of the Russian national team.
Arshavin played for Arsenal from 2009 to 2013. As part of the club, he played 105 matches in the English Premier League, scoring 23 goals. The 42-year-old midfielder is also known for playing for the Russian national team. Together with the national team, he won bronze medals at Euro 2008.
