Athlete Klishina spoke about the removal of Russians from international competitions

Daria Klishina said that Russian athletes have come to terms with the situation in world sports

Russian long jumper Daria Klishina spoke about the suspension from international competitions. Her words are reported by RIA Novosti.

“Other sports are in a slightly different situation, and Russian athletics was banned back in 2015. A very narrow circle of athletes was given permission, and we even went to commercial competitions without a flag and an anthem, ”she said and noted that Russian athletes resigned themselves to this situation in world sports.

Klishina added that before the suspension, athletes had to fight for admission twice a year – before the start of the winter and summer seasons. “I had to live like this: either you agree to the proposed conditions, or you don’t compete in international competitions,” she shared.

On March 23, World Athletics announced the restoration of ARAF membership. At the same time, the suspension of Russian athletes from competitions under the auspices of the organization was extended. It was noted that the Association will further formulate the conditions under which athletes will be able to return to tournaments.

In 2015, the ARAF membership in World Athletics was suspended due to systematic violations of anti-doping rules by Russians. Domestic athletes could compete in international competitions only after receiving individual permits and in a neutral status.
